Pinnacle Employee Walks for Diabetes

9/28/08

Crown Point, IN - September 28, 2008  Joleen Peterson, Patient Financial Services Representative, participated in the “Walk to Cure Diabetes” held September 28, 2008. The event was sponsored by the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. It was held at Hidden Lake Park in Merrillville, IN and consisted of a one or three mile noncompetitive course around the perimeter of the lake. Funds were raised to support research to help treat the complications caused by diabetes and to eventually find a cure for it.

Joleen takes this cause very personally, “Unfortunately, diabetes has been a part of my life. . . its devastating complications took my father’s life ten years ago at the age of 59. My husband developed the disease at the age of 12 and has suffered through kidney failure and partial blindness.”

Joleen walked to honor them and to help find a cure so others won’t have to deal with the disease.
