Pinnacle Holds Food Drive Ending November 21

Crown Point, Indiana – November 11, 2008 – Pinnacle Hospital announced today that it is holding a food drive to benefit the Northwest Indiana Food Bank for Lake and Porter Counties. The food drive will end Friday, November 21. Pinnacle employees are leading the effort in donating and collecting non-perishable and canned food items and household supplies.

According to state statistics, there are more than 100,000 people living 125 percent under the poverty line in Lake and Porter Counties. Of these 100,000 people, 34 percent to 43 percent of those living in poverty are children. According to the 2001 Hunger in America study, 43 percent of the members of households served by the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana are children under the age of 18 years of age and ten percent are elderly.
